Kindergarten
Early Childhood Education, made up of four grades (Kindergarten 1, 2, 3 and 4), welcomes children from the age of 2, providing an integral educational experience. Our approach is based on daily life enriched by educational practices that encompass coexistence, play, active participation, exploration, expression and self-knowledge.
In a warm and inclusive environment, with ample indoor and outdoor space, we promote playful and symbolic activities and experiences. Here, children have the opportunity to interact freely, expressing their desires and feelings. This interaction is the essence of exciting discoveries, meaningful learning, enriching socialization and the cultivation of fundamental values such as respect, cooperation and sharing.

Course structure
Escola Comunitária’s (ECC) Early Childhood Education offers a welcoming and stimulating environment, promoting meaningful interactions between children and adults, as well as opportunities for them to meet new peers, thus broadening their repertoire of experiences. Our spaces are carefully designed to provide playful activities and games that encourage exploration of their own bodies and interaction with the surrounding environment, allowing children to recognize themselves and understand the world around them.
In accordance with the fundamental rights of the child, we provide enriching moments of contact with nature, of putting our feet in the sand and messing about in the water, making it possible to observe and understand the transformations of the environment. In addition, we encourage the development of critical thinking by stimulating the creation of provisional hypotheses and the ability to confront them with different ideas, thus promoting cognitive and social development.
We value the importance of interaction between peers and recognize the transformative power of nature in our daily lives. Through carefully planned spaces and interactions, we seek to provide children with a full and happy childhood, where play is valued as an essential form of learning and development. We respect the individuality of each child, promoting an inclusive environment that fosters healthy and balanced growth.
At Escola Comunitária’s nursery school, every day is a new opportunity to discover and experience childhood, where learning takes place naturally and enjoyably.
Throughout the school year, the Early Childhood Education course maintains continuous contact with families, communicating the children’s experiences through physical portfolios and digital channels. This practice aims to keep families informed about the progress and development of the students, enabling closer and more collaborative monitoring between the school and those responsible. This constant exchange of information contributes to building a solid relationship of trust and partnership.
Early Childhood Education adopts a methodological approach based on Fields of Experience, which offers a playful and dynamic experience. This methodology aims to stimulate children’s protagonism and respect their learning pace.
The spaces in the school are conceived as opportunities for interaction and learning, playing a crucial role in the dialog between educators and children, which enables the exploration of challenges and proposals. Parks and playgrounds are seen as real laboratories for discovery.
The kitchen is seen as an environment for experimenting with specific recipes, where children work on concepts such as measurements, weight and food processing, while at the same time promoting social interactions. Backyards, classrooms and other spaces are also explored, allowing the children to interact and explore the proposals made by the educators.
Other environments, such as the music room, offer opportunities to explore acoustic issues, materials and instruments, enriching the children’s repertoire of knowledge and their perception of themselves in relation to these elements. English classes are integrated into ongoing projects, providing the children with an immersion in a new foreign language and culture.
All the spaces in the school are explored in a meaningful way by the children, contributing to their development and learning.
