Elementary School 1
In Primary 1 we promote the integral education of children, developing various skills and abilities that are essential for their growth. Our curriculum is designed to stimulate critical thinking, cultivate commitment to learning, promote self-knowledge and strengthen interpersonal relationships.
We adopt a variety of methodologies that foster the development of creativity and encourage children’s autonomous behavior, self-confidence, self-esteem and initiative. In addition, we work to develop personal responsibility and an understanding of rights and duties, as well as to cultivate positive habits and attitudes for group work and school coexistence.
Our aim is to provide children with meaningful experiences that contribute to their all-round development, enabling them to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that are essential for lifelong learning and personal growth.

Course structure
The priority of the Escola Comunitária Primary School 1 is the all-round development of students, covering intellectual, social, cultural and emotional aspects, as recommended by the National Common Curriculum Base, which guides our educational work.
Our approach includes classroom projects, both in teams and individually, as well as school assemblies, including class and course assemblies. We actively encourage students to take a leading role in all activities, thus stimulating the construction of knowledge and the development of critical skills and opinion.
We value both self-knowledge and knowledge of others, which are fundamental elements in this educational process. We encourage meaningful exchanges at all stages of teaching, including challenging questions proposed by the students themselves and group investigations, thus broadening the knowledge acquired.
In Primary 1, we adopt carefully planned pedagogical practices to promote students’ all-round development, with a view to improving essential skills and abilities. We particularly highlight class and individual projects, which encourage active participation and protagonism among the children, as well as assemblies, which provide spaces for dialog and interaction among the students.
In addition, we offer students outdoor spaces, such as the backyards of the classrooms and the Friendship Square, which make it possible to carry out various activities, both individual and in groups. Complementing these spaces are the Maker, Science and Computer Labs, as well as the active methodologies room, which provide environments conducive to practical and interactive learning.
At Escola Comunitária, we are always committed to creating a school environment that inspires learning and growth. Our Pedagogical Political Project is constantly reviewed to ensure that we offer an enriching educational experience. All spaces, including the playground, are designed to go beyond the classroom, with the aim of promoting interactions, playful moments and the practical application of academic knowledge.
The subjects taught by specialists, such as English, Music, Arts and Physical Education, are integrated harmoniously with the work of the teachers. Our classrooms are adapted to facilitate group work and presentations, allowing students to share what they have learned at different times and in different parts of the school.
In addition, the Escola Comunitária has spaces such as the Science Lab and the Maker Lab, where the activities developed are always connected to specific work themes and provide contextualized experiences for the students.
