Foreign Languages
How is our foreign language training?
In our approach to teaching English, we provide students with an immersive and gradual experience in the language, recognizing its importance in achieving more effective results. We choose teaching materials from publishers internationally recognized for their excellence in English teaching, thus guaranteeing the quality and consistency of the content used in our classes.
In addition, we promote the integration of English in interdisciplinary projects, allowing the language to serve as a tool for accessing knowledge in various areas. Our goal is to provide students with meaningful and relevant opportunities to apply and practice what they learn, encouraging them to think about the language and use it in a context-appropriate way.

Our mission is to provide a foreign language education throughout their school career, enabling our students to become proficient in the languages in question in order to face the academic and professional challenges that lie ahead. In a world where terms like ‘student mobility’ and ‘internationalization of curricula’ are increasingly common, it is essential to prepare them to master English and other languages independently, accurately and effectively.
From the 8th grade onwards, ECC offers students the opportunity to obtain a double diploma, allowing them to complete Brazilian high school alongside an American high school diploma, in partnership with the Washington Academy. In this program, subjects not included in the national curriculum are taught by teachers from the United States, with the support and guidance of a tutor teacher, in face-to-face meetings.
High school offers a range of significant benefits. As well as acquiring new knowledge, students improve their English language proficiency and take part in collaborative projects with American classmates and those of 16 other nationalities. This context provides an enriching intercultural learning experience, broadening students’ perspectives and preparing them for a globalized world.
An important advantage is the increase in educational and professional opportunities. The double degree opens doors to admissions to international universities and also to opportunities in the global job market. This diverse and internationally recognized experience sets students apart in an increasingly competitive context, both academically and professionally.
By opting for a double degree at ECC, students not only expand their educational horizons, but also develop essential skills for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
Students in the 9th year of elementary school and the 2nd year of secondary school sit the University of Cambridge exams at ECC. We seek to integrate these assessments organically into our curriculum and develop effective strategies to prepare students to face them.
Our commitment to providing comprehensive preparation for the Cambridge exams makes us a model and benchmark for student preparation.
Our main objective is to broaden exposure to the foreign language and align ourselves with the ECC’s teaching and learning approach, which sees languages not only as objects of study, but also as tools for acquiring new knowledge. From this perspective, we seek to enable students to improve, retake and deepen their mastery of the language, expanding its use in various contexts and situations.
Our daily practices in English offer a variety of themes, providing children with an immersion in the second language. Through games, play, storytelling, observations, simulations, music and investigations, children expand and enrich their vocabulary, as well as develop their communication skills.
